CHAPTER 1: THE DISCOVERY

Chapter 1

She sneered. She sneered and laughed in a tiny whisper so the teacher wouldn’t, hear her. But I did, and that’s all that matters. I was the new kid and the lamo. She was the bratty and popular one. Honestly I didn’t care about fitting in, and the only friends I had were my dog Eager and my older brother Luke. She laughed at when I slipped on the cafeteria floor. She laughed when I tripped in the hallway. I never laughed at her. I couldn’t. She was always to perfect and I thought there never even was such thing as being perfect. When I got home I needed to rest and even though I had a Language Arts essay due tomorrow I didn’t care. I usually was the intelligent one. Who got A’s or B’s. But this day I felt more like sleeping then getting my hand sore. It was a wintery day, cold too. The snow fell gently on the ground as if there never existed such a thing as grass. It covered the trees looking like there never existed such a thing as bark. It was beautiful I thought. Indeed it glistened and shined. I tried to count the snowflakes falling but there were too many it was impossible. I would make a whole photo album about snow. I can. So I did. I took out my camera and put on my boots and coat and I trotted outside. I looked around and it was truly amazing. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I took one shot right where my favorite tree was. As the image showed up on the screen of my camera it was brilliant. I insisted on another and then another. I took photographs of my footprints, the snow that lies on the ground, and yes the snowflakes. I went inside and finally did my essay. Then I had dinner. When I went upstairs and peered out my window it seemed like a very quiet evening. The skies were no longer blue they were black. Luckily the stars still shined brightly. There’s something I didn’t have to complain about. I guess nature was my friend too. I love nature. Another hobby I loved was photography. I got my camera when I was 10 and I’m still ten. But I have about 400 shots of nature and my family on there. I have pictures of the trees green in summertime and part of spring. I have now pictures of the snow and the wintery trees. I also have pictures of the red and orange trees changing in autumn. I must have a lot of memory to hold about 400 shots! It got dimmer and dimmer until you could only see the stars shining like I said before. I looked up at them and decided that I would take some pictures of them. They were like gigantic balls of light or a light bulb. But when we look up at the stars they look microscopic not humongous. I took a shot of what I thought looked like the brightest star. Then I took a shot of the biggest star then the smallest. This day felt so long to me. But I knew tomorrow was just another hideous day at school. My brother wasn’t there to protect me he went to a high school. I was in the 8th grade. So I still had 1 more year until high school which is actually supposed to be worse than middle school. I then shut my overhead light off and my reading light off. My overhead light was half broken. So I used both lights. I lay in bed for 5 minutes then gently I closed my eyes and fell asleep. I dreamed of a wonderful world where nature was a person and my brother dog, and me were all happy together. We were in a meadow it was summertime. My parents laughing and us laughing. Us running and them talking. Nature making flowers bloom and letting us pick the roses to give to our parents. It was amazing. Then out of the blue a wolf came out of nowhere. It didn’t hurt us it just played with us. My parents were scared at first but them they warmed up and so did the wolf. We played for awhile then went home and had supper. I awoke. Startled. I wondered why there was a wolf. I wondered why nature was a person. I wondered why it was summertime. I wondered a lot
